Course Description:
The Surface Rescue Operations Class for Law Enforcement Officers is an 8-hour course that provides responders with the knowledge and skills to rescue individuals who have fallen into the water or through the ice with minimal rescue equipment available. This course consists of classroom and scenario-based skills assessment in the water.
Course Objectives:
The objectives of this course are to teach officers the basics and risk assessment techniques to safely rescue individuals in the water using: Rescue Throw Bags, PFD’s (Life Jackets), Rescue Lines, Ice Rescue Picks, Carabiners, and Immersion suits.
What to bring:
Students should bring any department issued water rescue equipment available, i.e., PFD, throw bags, rescue lines etc. If you do not have any equipment, we will provide everything you need for the water portion of the training. Please wear thermal undergarments.

Meets the following mandatory training criteria: 4 hours Emergency Medical Response with 2 hours of scenario based.
