Course Object

This training will provide skills and techniques in handling juvenile problems in our society and training in dealing with the various juvenile situations. Participants will take a detailed look at the updated Juvenile Court Act and its implication in the field. Juvenile gangs, substance abuse, alternatives to detention, abuse, neglect, missing children, exploitation, teenage suicide, criminal sexual assault, and more will be covered. Training materials useful during juvenile investigations, interviews and detentions will be provided.

About the Instructor:

Gail P. Sullivan graduated from Loyola University (BA) and DePaul University (MA) with honors. She has worked in social services and criminal justice for the past 25 years in the private and public sectors. She has provided therapy to 100 employees (Illinois certified) to serve the needs of sexually traumatized and problematic children under the age of 12 years. As an expert, she was on the States Attorney Task Force for the Mass Molestation of Children and the Cook County Child Death Review Team. She has developed curriculum that meets State requirements for the certification of juvenile police officers. She provides training for Cook County Adult Probation, Illinois Crisis Intervention Team and Homeland Security, as well as MTUs across the state.

Mobile In-Service Training Team # 7 Illinois Enforcement Training and Standards Board

MTU #7 request for certification of this course has been approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board

Meets the following mandatory training criteria: Civil Rights 2 hours, Constitutional and Proper Use of Law Enforcement Authority 4 hours,
Cultural Competency 4 hours, Emergency medical response training and certification 1-hour, Human Rights 3 hours, Legal Updates 6 hours,
Procedural Justice 3 hours, and Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect 3 hours.
