Course Objective
Every Law Enforcement Officer must endeavor to develop information and the best way to get timely and accurate information is through the utilization of informants. Developing informants is a valuable and necessary component of all facets of law enforcement and proper management of those informants is a necessity for efficiency, success, and safety.
Course Content
In this course, Officer Safety is paramount! Efficient and successful techniques, tactics, and investigative innovations will be analyzed. Proper utilization, deployment and management of confidential informants will be taught.
Topics include:
Dynamics of Confidential Informants, Sources of Information, Cultivating Confidential Informants (CI), Successful Debriefing Techniques for CI Development, Successful Debriefing Techniques for Information Development, Tactical Cultivation of CIs, Developing/Utilizing Team Synergy, Informant Motivations, CI Management for Safety and Efficiency, Policy, Procedures and Rules, Registration Packages and Administration, Paying Informants, Cooperation Agreements, Probable Cause, CI Deployment, Infiltration, Interdiction, Investigation, Officer Safety and Security, and Legal Considerations.
About the Instructor:
Homefront Protective Group was created by Lou Savelli, and his wife, Joy, to meet the needs of a dynamic and challenging law enforcement environment. Since its inception, Homefront has trained over 250,000 law enforcement officers in the United States and abroad. Specializing in Counterterrorism and criminal investigations, Homefront has been providing law enforcement and military-centric training to a variety of police agencies throughout the United States and has been a US Department of Defense contractor for over 20 years. All courses are designed by Lou Savelli, who retired as the detective supervisor of the NYPD Terrorist Interdiction Unit who responded to and investigated the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in NYC on September 11th, 2001.
