The Active Shooter Incident Management (ASIM) – Advanced course is a 24-hour performance-level course designed to improve incident management and integration of law enforcement, re and EMS responders to active shooter events. The course provides a model framework for use by law enforcement, re and EMS command staff to manage active shooter event response to improve time to threat neutralization, medical intervention, and survivability of victims.
The ASIM course provides participants:
The statistical prole of a typical Active Shooter Event (ASE) –
† A model Active Shooter Event integrated response process
† The Active Shooter Incident Management Checklist(TM)
† Organizational building blocks for an integrated response including Contact Team,
Rescue Task Force, Tactical, Perimeter, Triage, Transport, Intelligence, and Reunication
† Progressively challenging full length Active Shooter Event functional exercise scenarios
† Hands-on experience in multiple response roles
† Introduction to Complex Coordinated Attacks (CCA)
† Experience applying and working within the NIMS Incident Command System
† Improvised Explosive Device and Static/Barricade scenarios
† CCA Case Studies and capstone exercise scenario
Mobile In-Service Training Team#7 Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board
MTU 7 request for certification of this course has been approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board
Meets the following mandatory training criteria: 2 hours Emergency Medical Response Training and Certification, 19 hours Procedural Justice, 6 hours De-Escalation Techniques with 2 hours scenario based and 6 hours Officer Safety with 2 hours scenario based. Specialized Training: 24 hours Active Threat Response with 4 hours scenario based.
